Fiske Boyd (1895-1974)

Painter, graphic artst, block printer and teacher Fiske Boyd was born in Philadelphia and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts there and at the Art Students' League in New York, where he studied under Kenneth Hayes Miller.

Boyd was also a member of the Woodstock artists' colony and executed mural commissions during the 1930s. Boyd won several awards and exhibited his work widely. His prints and paintings are held by numerous institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Smithsonian Museum of American Art in Washington, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Philadelphia Art Museum.

For much of his life Boyd lived in Plainfield, New Hampshire.
